The Brandon Valley girls soccer team came another step closer to securing a state championship and another first for the Lady Lynx soccer program Saturday, beating Spearfish 2-0 in overtime of the state quarterfinals.
The O’Gorman Knights shut the door on Brandon Valley’s 2017 boys’ soccer season Sept. 26 by scoring the game’s only goal off a corner kick 15 minutes into the contest.
Brandon Valley heads into the Class AA state playoffs as a top-four team for the first time in program history. The ranking gives the Lady Lynx a first-round bye and a home quarterfinal playoff game advantage.
The Brandon Valley boys’ soccer team looks to make it into post-season play next week after taking down Watertown and Harrisburg to go 2-1 on the week. BV’s only loss of the week, a 3-0 setback, came against second-ranked Lincoln on Saturday.
The Lady Lynx softball team built a five-run lead in the fifth inning to fend off the Watertown Arrows and bring home an 8-7 victory at Aspen Park Sept. 14.
