Richard “Dick” Nussbaum, 92, of Brandon, formerly of Garretson, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
Beverly M. Hutt, 91, of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026 at Bethany Home in Brandon. Memorial services were held Monday, Aug. 31, 2026 at Faith Temple Church, Sioux Falls.  
Bonita Allene Edwards, 77, of Rapid City, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, in Rapid City, from pancreatic cancer.  A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 31 at First Congregational Church UCC, , Rapid City. Private inurnment will occur at a later date.
Maddy VanEngen, 33, of Ocheyedan, Iowa passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 at First Reformed Church in Sibley, Iowa. Burial was in the Ocheyedan Township Cemetery.

Richard was born on Jan. 27, 1934, to Richard and Leona (Kearney) Nussbaum in Garretson. He attended grades 1-8 in a country school and graduated from Garretson High School in 1952. He was a member of the Slip-Up 4-H Club and was chief of the Sioux Empire Fair in 1953. He married Marjorie Lee at Brandon Lutheran Church on Sept. 25, 1954. Richard was employed at Sioux Falls Construction Company building dormitories at Augustana College. He wheeled countless wheelbarrow loads of cement. After two years he joined the U.S. Army and went to Fort Chafee in Arkansas for basic training. He served at Travis Air Force base in Fairfield, Calif., until his discharge in July 1958.
Artilda F. Haffner met Jesus face to face in the late afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, held in the arms of her two children in her home, following a recent diagnosis of cancer. She was surrounded by the same love she spent a lifetime giving away. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 5 p.m. at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.
Harriet Gertrude Wehde, 91, of Brandon, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls. A Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at Heartland Funeral Home in Brandon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Swedona Covenant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Swedona Covenant Church.
Kathryn “Kay” Torgerson, 82, of Sioux Falls, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, at Prairie Creek Memory Care. Services were held Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, 
Bernard “Bernie” Gunnink, age 87, of Hardwick, Minn., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026, at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, Minn. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at the Colonial Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton.  
Mary Noralene (Klos) Lienhard, 88, of Sioux Falls, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2026 at the Alcester Care and Rehab Center in Alcester. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel in Sioux Falls.
