Sharon was born on April 7, 1940, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to John and Christine Bly. She passed into the next life on Jan. 15, 2025, at the age of 84. She graduated from Brandon High School and later moved to the Minneapolis area where she spent most of her adult life.

Rachel Vannie Danielson, 95, of Garretson, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
Marvin Elbers, 88, of Brandon, S.D., passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Family will be present to greet friends during visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. A private family service will follow.
Marvin was born on March 14, 1937, in Steen, Minn., to John and Helen (Hoff) Elbers. He was baptized at The Steen Reformed Church, attended grade school in Steen, and graduated from Hills (Minn.) High School in 1955. After graduation, he worked for his dad in Steen. In 1960, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany beginning March 26, 1961. Marvin was a proud member of the American Legion in Valley Springs, S.D.
After returning home, Marvin met the love of his life, Jean Funge, during a visit to Cronk’s Station in Valley Springs. They were married on Jan. 14, 1963, in Luverne, Minn., and together built a long life. They raised three children, Vicky, Dawn, and Mike, first in Valley Springs, and later in Brandon.
Dirk Johnson, 64, of Valley Springs, S.D., passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, April 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, children, close family members, and friend, Shane Caldwell. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Brandon Valley Assembly of God in Brandon. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a future charitable cause in memory of Dirk. Please dress just like Dirk would want in casual clothes or your favorite flannel.
Mark Mattke, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Brandon. A celebration of Mark’s life was held Friday, April 11, 2025 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
Lynn and Ronald Anderson, longtime residents of Brandon, who had recently moved to Colorado to be near family, have both passed away.
Roger Dale Elverson, 93, of Sioux Falls, formerly of rural Sherman, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025, at his home in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Highland Lutheran Church, rural Sherman. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
