Brandon Valley dance team wowed the judges with their jazz performance and their uniforms, which feature shorts, at the Mitchell Invitational last week. The Lynx competitive cheer team was absent their flyer, which was reflected in their team score. Both cheer and dance compete Thursday at the Yankton Invitational.

Site Works, Inc., continues work on the long-awaited Ironwood Street extention project. The company’s bid of $1,170,966.55 came in well below the $1.8 million estimate, and was one of 11 bids the city receiv ed for the project. Work began in late June and should be wrapped up next month, barring weather. Extending Ironwood Street provides a second entrance/exit to/from Aspen Park, which continues to expand with recreational opportunities for the community. This fall, a parking lot will be constructed between the pool and tennis courts at the park.

Dynamic Dance’s growth calls for new studio build

Brandon residents who live along Heatherwood Drive and Circle, gathered for their annual neighborhood block party recently. Gayle Zach, who submitted the photo on behalf of the neighbors, reported a “good turnout, between 40-50 neighbors” showed up to enjoy good food and good conversation. Although rain dampened the event, she said a group of men enjoyed games of corn hole in the street.
