Maxine Catherine Person, 85, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Ava’s House Hospice in Sioux Falls.

Memorial services were held Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hartford. Interment was in the Hartford Community Cemetery.

She is survived by her children, Jay Person of Hartford, and Scott (Christy) Person of Oacoma; stepchildren, Jeffrey Person of Sioux Falls, Laurie Gill of Fountain Inn, S.C., and Larry (Mary) Person of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Amanda (Mark) Kriens of Trent, Michael Person of Valley Springs, Nichole (Josh) Herman of Parker, Me’Shaya (Adam) Tripp of Hartford, Cody (Nichole Eickstadt) Jensen of Chancellor, Courteney Person of Hartford, Amber (Sam) Tschappat of Aiken, S.C., Haley Upchurch of Fountain Inn, S.C., Zachary (Courtney) Person of California, and Christopher Person of Florida; and great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Kade and Ella Kriens; Nolan Eickstadt; Maggie and Nora Herman; Logan, Layla and Joshua Person; Twila, Archer and Vivian Tripp; Hazel Tschappat; Addison and Austin Kemp; Nolan Person.
