Gerald “Jerry” Walter Peterson, 86, died on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. A memorial visitation and time of memory sharing were held Friday, June 26, 2026 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Peterson of Florence, Minn.; brother, Eddie Peterson, Shafer, Minn.; eight children, James (Laurel) Peterson, Canton, Kari (Glen) Greenfield, Sioux Falls, Robert Peterson, Sioux Falls, Michael (Barb) Langner, Valley Springs, Anna (Ron) Williams, Sioux Falls, Shawn (Mandi Hoermann) Peterson, Ramsey, Minn., Stephen (Ashley Hartman) Peterson, Sioux Falls, and Christina (Matt) Horn, Hartford; son-in-law, Rick Freeman, Sioux Falls; 17 grandchildren, Natasha, Jeremiah, Jesse, Phil, Rebecca, Joshua, Sarah, Christine, Janell, Derrick, Shakur, Shamaul, Lexus, Adler, Blake, Aubriana and Stella; great-grandchildren, Faith, Noah, Dakota, Jace, Khloe, Ernest, Rozlyn, Marley, Paisley, Hetley, Anora, Orion and Ezra; many other relatives and friends.
