Marion A. Timm, 76 of Brandon, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Sanford Hospice Centennial Cottage in Sioux Falls. Her funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at Sure Foundation Lutheran Church, 617 E. Redwood Blvd., Brandon. Marion was born to Eldern and Margaret Bleck in Fairfax, Minn. She grew up alongside her five siblings – Ruth, Jeanine, Gerald, Dianne, and Grace – and her beloved grandfather, Gustave aka “Grandpa Gust”, whose presence and influence were deeply meaningful in her early life. Those early years helped shape the values of faith, family, and hard work that would define the incredible woman we know and will forever love.
Marion graduated from Fairfax High School in 1967 and continued her education at St. Cloud Beauty College. Always industrious and capable, Marion earned her real estate license and managed multiple investment properties for nearly two decades while also intentionally choosing to be present for her children’s formative years. She lovingly cared for her family while also running an in-home daycare, extending her nurturing spirit to many children beyond her own. As her own children got older, Marion entered corporate life (not her favorite) for a decade or more before ending her “working” career doing the job of her dreams as “Grandma Daycare”. In this season, she had the joy of caring for six of her 11 grandchildren, pouring into them the same love, patience, and guidance she had given her own children.
She lived with a strong faith in God and a generous spirit, and she found purpose in caring for those around her. Her greatest accomplishments were not measured in the titles she held or the accolades she earned, but in the family that she nurtured and the love she gave so freely.
Marion showed her love in the gentle, thoughtful touches that made her home feel like a place of belonging. Her sewing machine was often humming as she stitched quilts, pajamas, and countless creations – many made just for her grandchildren and each one a tangible reminder of her love and joy. Her kitchen, always warm and welcoming, was another place where her love was generously shared. Famous for her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, it was not uncommon for a grandchild to stop by unexpectedly in search of a warm embrace and freshly-baked treat she always had ready on the counter.
She will be remembered for the haven she created, the comfort she offered, the artistry of her hands, and the deep, steady love she held for her children and grandchildren. Her love endures in the lives she shaped, the traditions she nurtured, and the family she cherished above everything else.
Marion’s greatest joy in life was her family. Marion shared 55 years of marriage with her husband, Lester, and is the proud mother of four children: Amy (Gary) Liepold, Darren (Leann) Timm, Angela (Jason) Herrboldt, and Andrea Timm. She lived with a strong faith in God and a generous spirit, and she found purpose in caring for those around her. Marion was the deeply loved grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Gavyn Liepold, Adelyn Liepold, Kaelin Vugteveen, Isaac Herrboldt, Everett Herrboldt, Addison Timm, Alayna Liepold, Will Vugteveen, Westin Herrboldt, Lillian Herrboldt, and Dylan Timm. Being “Grandma” was a role she cherished with her entire heart and soul. Grateful for also having shared her life are her siblings, Jeanine Sather of New Ulm, Minn., Gerald (Bonnie) Bleck of Fairfax, Minn., Dianne (Woody) Woodruff of Elysian, Minn., and Grace Fischer (Stan Hinderman) of Fairfax; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ruth Jensen and brother-in-law Ron Jensen, her brother-in-law Doug Sather, and her nephew Russell Jensen
