Letter to the Editor - Marso: Brandon Food Pantry needs your help

The needs of our community through Brandon Food Pantry stir me to send my first ever letter to the editor. Thank you for taking the time to read it and, more importantly, to act. Our community has an amazing director and group of volunteers who provide assistance to those facing food insecurity and live in the Brandon Valley School District area by providing five days of food assistance up to four times a year.

For months, there has been an overwhelming increase in the number of families accessing services. Yet, donations to the BFP have dramatically dropped. BFP’s an nual fundraising dinner is on Nov. 21. In addition to the funds raised at the event, it is in need of $12,000 to address past shortfalls and upcoming immediate projected needs.

There are so many of us that have been blessed with means to make monetary donations to BFP. Your monetary donation is my request. Food is appreciated, but with money then BFP can typically buy three times as much food for the money you would otherwise spend on a donated food item.

Please consider helping support our BFP: a check to BFP, P.O. Box 712, Brandon, SD 57005; or a call to (605) 582-7001.

Thank you.

Lisa Marso
