Supe's On: Kindergarten registration for 2025-26 is underway

The elementary schools of the Brandon Valley School District are accepting registrations for Kindergarten Screening. A child must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2025, to be eligible to start Kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year. Please, contact your respective elementary attendance center for more information and to register for Kindergarten Screening.

Parents and guardians can support their child’s Kindergarten readiness by reading to their child daily, working on letter, number, and color recognition, and engaging in activities that promote fine and gross motor skill development. South Dakota Public Broadcasting and PBS Media provide a wide variety of online resources to support families as they work on Kindergarten readiness with their young learner. 

Additionally, working on social skills and how to follow two or three step directions is also critical. Most importantly, keep your Kindergarten readiness activities fun. With fun practice, you can help prepare your child for their elementary school debut.
