Brandon Valley Best Buddies held a food drive in conjunction with the BVHS fall play “James and the Giant Peach,” presented last week. Glen and Char Alderson (center) cut the ribbon celebrating the completion of Xtremely Clean’s new facility at 1801 N. Walnut Ave. The 100-by-60-foot structure in the Corson Industrial Park will house four service trucks and duct cleaning van. “It means a lot to have this great facility,” Glen Alderson said. “I want to thank the people of Brandon for hiring me, for keeping their business in Brandon. It’s the main reason we were able to do this.” Brandon Lane, membership manager for the Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, describes Alderson as “the epitome of a hard worker … always with a smile on his face.” Xtremely Clean was started by the Aldersons in 2004 with a “portable carpet cleaner” and has grown to employ nine employees. Beck & Hofer Construction utilized sub-contraor Runge Construction to raze the former Dairy Queen at 230 S. Splitrock Monday. The building, owned by the Brandon Valley School District, will cost the district appoximately $23,000 to demolish. Superintendent Dr. Jarod Larson said there are no currently plans for the now-vacant lot.
