The kids got up close looks at a Virginia possum (above), a Herman’s tortoise, a milksnake and a prehensile-tailed skink. There was a large crowd of kids and parents on hand for this summertime event, one of many offered at the Brandon Community Library. BVMS goes to Washington, D.C.Jill Meier/BV Journal A group of 111 Brandon Valley Middle School students and adult chaperones filled two buses bound for the airport in Omahas last week for five days in the Nation’s Capitol, Washington, D.C. The annual trip was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, hence the large number of BVMS “delegates,” who are now incoming freshmen and sophomores at Brandon Valley High School. Each student raises funds for the trip, which has been led by Brady Olson and Nick Skibsted for 10 years. The group returned to Brandon on Tuesday.
