The melodic harmonies of Tonic Sol-fa will fill the room at this year’s Bethany Lutheran Foundation Dinner, set for Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon.
The annual benefit includes dinner, silent and live auctions and a 75-minute live performance by the Emmy award-winning a capella quartet.
“We’re bringing in a bigger act to draw more people,” said Carmen Dougherty, Bethany’s community development director. “You’ll have an opportunity to hear them and meet them in an intimate setting.”
The Bethany Lutheran Foundation is a nonprofit group that raises money for the Bethany Lutheran Retirement communities in Brandon and Sioux Falls, which includes three facilities with close to 300 residents.
The foundation’s goal, Dougherty said, is “to directly enhance our residents’ day-to-day living.”
Past benefits have helped to purchase more than 50 electronic beds for Bethany Sioux Falls residents, two vans to transport residents to and from doctor’s appointments and new flooring.
In addition to silent and live auctions, the foundation dinner will offer a cork draw and raffle for two Thanksgiving feasts that will serve 20 people apiece.
Live auction items include “A Night on the Town” – two tickets to Christmas at the Cathedral in Sioux Falls, a limo and dinner at Minerva’s – and two cabin stays in the Black Hills.
Décor by Oakridge Nursery & Landscaping will also be for sale that night.
All proceeds will go toward improvements at Bethany Home in Sioux Falls, which are direly needed, Dougherty said. That facility, now 65 years old, expanded in 2003 to include Bethany Meadows and in 2012 Bethany Home in Brandon.
“Without them, without the owner churches and their vision, we wouldn’t be here,” Dougherty said. “This is a way of giving back.”
Individual tickets are $50 or $500 for a table of 10. To reserve tickets, donate silent auction items or purchase a sponsorship, visit mybethanyhome.org or call (605) 582-8622.
