Hometown Heroes Banner program underway

Three Rivers VFW Post 4726, the Auxiliary and the Ed Polzine Fund are partnering on the Hometown Heroes Banner program that will honor veterans with Brandon ties. Eligible veterans need to have lived in Brandon, be associated with the Brandon community or a past/present member of the VFW. 

If you are a veteran, or would like to honor a veteran, applications (with payment) must be submitted by June 1. Cost is $150 per banner. Good, quality photos are required. Photos, with the form may be emailed to vfw4726commander@gmail.com or editor@bvjournal.info. Checks should be made payable to the Ed Polzine Fund. Application forms are available at both the VFW, 321 S. Main or the Brandon Valley Journal, 1404 E. Cedar St., during weekday business hours.

The banners will be displayed July through Veteran’s Day in November.

 

Crack sealing underway in Brandon this week

Crack sealing will take place from May 26-29 the area from N. Tamarac Circle to N. Ninth Ave., from E. Redwood Blvd. to E. Heatherwood Dr. Please make sure all vehicles are removed from the street so crews can properly seal all areas. Streets will remain open during the process. 

 

Register for Deckert-Garrow Golf Scramble

Registration is open for the first annual Deckert-Garrow Golf Scramble on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The four-person scramble will be played at Hidden Valley Golf Course, teeing off with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start. Cost is $320 per team and is open to golfers 18 years and older.

BLC Community BBQ is June 3

Brandon Lutheran Church, 600 E. Holly Blvd., is the place to be 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 for the BLC Community BBQ, a WELCA fundraiser.

Menu includes smoked BBQ pulled pork, walking taco and hot dog meals. Pulled pork may also be ordered by the pound, and Family Treats Ice Cream truck will be on site 5-8 p.m.

Worship and Vacation Bible School begins at 6 p.m.

 

Big Cup Youth Golf Tourney set

Registration is open for the Big Cup 2026 Youth Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Brandon. To learn more, email garrett@ambushllc.com.
