MatCat Youth Wrestling Tourney is Sunday

Hundreds of youth wrestlers (6U-13U) will compete Sunday, Jan. 11 in the MatCat Youth Wrestling Tournament at Brandon Valley High School. Wrestling starts at 11:30 a.m. with 6U, followed by 8U-13U matches. There will be 12 mats of wrestling action throughout the day. 

Admission is $5 for adults and free for students. Coaches bands are $10.

Mid-year graduation on the horizon

Fourteen Brandon Valley High School seniors are scheduled to receive their diplomas at mid-year graduation ceremonies at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 in the Brandon Valley Performing Arts Center. The event is open to the public.

 

Brandon Burger Battles underway

Two Burger Battles are happening in Brandon throughout the month of January. The Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their fourth annual Battle, featuring six participants: Annie’s Coffeehouse, The Gruff Plates + Pour, 212º The Boiling Point, Chuds Pub & Grill, Bottom’s Up and Red Rock Bar & Grill.

Tailgator’s Bar & Grill is conducting an internal Burger Battle, which features six different burgers.

Ed Polzine seeks donations of wild game, fish

The Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed Fund is accepting donations of wild game (deer, elk, pheasants, moose, etc.) and fish (preferably walleye) for the 40th annual Wild Game Feed on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are bottle juice, shampoo, bar soap, toothpaste, paper goods (Kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates).

For appointments, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
