Supe's On: South Dakota schools await their report cards

By:
Dr. Jarod Larson, BVSD superintendent

The South Dakota Department of Education will publicly release school report cards on Oct. 14. In November, an overview of the Brandon Valley School District’s student achievement data will be provided at a Board of Education meeting. Report card information can be found at the South Dakota Department of Education website (http://doe.sd.gov/reportcard/).

Due to data disruptions caused by COVID-19, this year’s Report Card will not include School Performance Index scores. Further, there will be no new identifications for school improvement. The existing school improvement identifications will remain in place. Certain data elements such as financial data and Career and Technical Education (CTE) data will be added to the Report Card in later months.

In the end, the absolute most critical factor as an educational system is that we utilize the information and data available to best meet the needs of our students in the areas of curriculum and instruction. We should be very proud of our students and staff for their levels of achievement, but continually strive for improvement and excellence in education.
