Supe's On: School year off to positive start
By:
Dr. Jarod Larson, BVSD superintendent
The 2017-18 school year is off and running. Overall, we have had an outstanding start to the school year. Our staff and students have not missed a beat this fall getting back into the swing of classroom activities. Last Friday, our district celebrated “The Lynx Way” day and invited all students and staff to wear their Lynx Way t-shirt. It was great to see the BV staff and students unified around a common message – a message about positive character traits.
I strongly encourage parents and guardians to talk with their child about traffic and pedestrian safety. If your child is riding the school bus, please talk with them about bus riding etiquette and appropriate behavior. When the bus approaches the bus stop, stay back and wait for the bus to come to a complete stop. Once onboard, students are to remain seated at all times and conduct themselves in an orderly fashion. Appropriate behavior on the bus is critical to student safety.
Please, exercise extreme caution when in and around our school zones. School zones are high traffic areas, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. For our children’s safety, please slow-down, take your time, and abide by all traffic laws and drop-off signage. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in helping keep our kids safe. Together, we can work to ensure our children’s safety as they make their way to and from school.
Student activities are back in full swing and I would strongly encourage patrons to come enjoy an activity. I do want to extend a special thank you to the Marching Lynx and Lynx cheerleaders for joining us at the Brandon Valley All-Staff Welcome Back. I have heard many compliments about the exceptional quality of both the band and cheerleaders’ performances – THANK YOU.
Go Lynx!
