So, where do we go from here?

I really hate the state of mind that I am in lately. I believe that I am a positive, optimistic, forward thinking individual at my core. But lately … I am challenged to maintain that individual. So much is happening; things that threaten a way of life, our democracy, safety, security, some amount of predictability, and generally a society being able to do the right thing. Whatever that is. After thinking about this dilemma, I have come up with following choices.

My choices: Stop watching the news. Separate myself from the daily events.

Change your outlook – “Your expectations are your problem”.

Quit caring. Enough said.

Take action. I don’t know what this means. I’ve not felt this since the 60’s and 70’s. 

So, where do we go from here? 

Is it enough that we stringently protect an unborn fetus from an abortion to allow that child to be born into a world that refuses to protect it from abuse and worse while at home or school? To not be brought up in poverty, hungry, subjected to abuse, limited from education, and opportunity.   

Does that make a case for abortion? No, it does not. Does that support “choice”? That is the debate (now screaming from both sides).   

Not all of our children are born into families with resources, the parental support, and the sense that the world is wide open for them (and to be safe). So many children lack the basic life foundation to put them on the road to an even chance at life sufficiency. 

I believe that I am among the majority of our society that feels this way. Confused and frustrated. Wanting better, not just for me and my family – but for all families. But what to do? That choice No. 4: Taking action is the most positive way to break from the pattern that is getting me down.   

However, is it a local problem, a state issue, a national crisis? A blend of all? My thought is that this question is the bugaboo in getting started moving forward. So instead, we sit and stew, frustrated that nothing changes.
