Little League All-Star team is region runner-upThe Brandon Valley Lynx Little League All-Star team competed for the East River title in the 2017 Little League World Series playoffs July 7-11. The Lynx lost to Sioux Falls in the opening game but battled back. They defeated Huron 13-0, Pierre 9-4 and Harrisburg 19-2 to face Sioux Falls again on July 11 for the district title. The Lynx lost 8-1. Gypsy Trading Co. holds ribbon cuttingBilly and Ellison Cutrer (center), owners of Gypsy Trading Co. and the new strip mall they moved their business to on Holly Boulevard, was celebrated with a double Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on July 25. Membership from both the Brandon Area and Sioux Falls Area Chambers of Commerce were on hand to celebrate the business expansion as well as ther new strip mall. Howard commits to SDSU football Maxwel Howard of Brandon has been blessed to receive an offer and has committed to join the South Dakota State University football team in 2018. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound, All-State and All-Conference offensive tackle for the Lynx towers over his future collegiate coach, John Steigelmeier. Howard, who will be a senior at Brandon Valley High School, played an instrumental role in Brandon Valley’s Class AAA state runner-up finish in the 2017 season. He is the son of Dave and Mary Howard.
