From the Pulpit: Jesus, The Conquering King

This Easter season celebrates the most important moment in all of history. During this holiday all of humanity would be granted freedom and forgiveness from sin. There weren’t any news crews gathered to capture the events unfolding. World leaders and politicians were not gathered to get the best seats to watch the King of all kings enter the city of Jerusalem. Instead the streets were lined with ordinary individuals like you and me waiting to welcome in the Messiah ... Jesu … the one savior of the world.

The crowd waved their palm branches shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” The crowd cheered in triumph and confidence because Jesus was their conquering king. Jesus wasn’t being led to a palace or to his throne. He was heading to a trial and to a cross.

This was God’s perfect plan to save people from their sin. Jesus was willing to lay his life down for you. From the beginning God had planned to give his son to save the world. Why? Because he loves you, John 3:16.

Resurrection Sunday – or Easter – whatever you choose to call it, was, and still is, the greatest celebration ever.  Jesus wasn’t planning to overthrow a man or take over a nation. Jesus conquered death, hell, and the grave for everyone when he died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later. Jesus gave you and I an opportunity to receive forgiveness and a new life and it doesn’t cost you anything.

When you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and savior of your life … You … are … saved! Jesus is your conquering king. He conquered every sin, every sickness, disease, and every pain ... for you. We pray this Easter season is special for you, because you were the recipient of the greatest love ever given.
