THE MINNEHAHA COUNTY COMMISSION CONVENED AT 1:30 PM on July 14th, 2021 pursuant to adjournment on June 6th. Commissioners present were: Barth, Beninga, and Karsky. Commissioner Heiberger was present via phone call. Also present were Eric Bogue, Chief Deputy State’s Attorney and Madison Roberts, Deputy Auditor.

MOTION by Barth, seconded by Beninga, to enter into a Special Commission Meeting. Roll Call Vote: 4 ayes. 

REGULAR BUSINESS 

Mark Kriens, Facilities Director, presented information on storm damage that occurred to the upper portion of the EXPO building at the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds on July 6th 2021 causing membrane delamination and additional damage to the insulation and coverboard from the rain.

MOTION by Barth, seconded by Beninga, finding that an emergency exists resulting from the July 6, 2021, wind storm and such storm damaged the EXPO building at the W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds as to create a risk to public safety and that the damage must be repaired due to the upcoming Sioux Empire Fair and for the preservation of the EXPO building, do authorize the Chair to sign an agreement, pending final review by the State’s Attorney’s office, for the emergency repairs to the EXPO building located at the W.H. Lyons Fairgrounds. Roll Call Vote: 4 ayes 

MOTION by Barth, seconded by Beninga to adjourn. 4 ayes. 

The Commission adjourned until 9:00 am Tuesday, June 20th, 2021
