The Marching Lynx banded together for their last competition of 2017 Saturday at the Omaha Marching Invitational.
Brandon Valley earned third place in the preliminary portion of the contest, which featured 19 bands from across the tri-state area, and fifth in the finals.
“The Marching Lynx had a great last weekend in Omaha,” said band director Chris Borchardt. “It was an emotional evening as we thanked and said goodbye to our senior members.”
The Marching Lynx will perform “Music Makers” one last time at their indoor marching band concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Brandon Valley High School’s Performing Arts Center.
Borchardt posted a farewell message on the Brandon Valley Bands Facebook page:
“‘Music Makers’ challenged this group of students, and they rose to meet every goal they set. Every day brought improvement, and our growth from band camp to today is something any group would be proud of. This group of kids is truly special. High school band students are unstoppable when they commit to something. I cannot wait to see where they take this program next. Thank you to all of the senior members. Without your leadership, we could not have had the great season we did! Thanks to all the parents, administrators, prop builders, chaperones and friends for helping our dreams become a reality. Brandon Valley is a very special place and the family we have become is something that we will all remember for a lifetime. See you next season, Marching Lynx!”
