UN-L awards record 3,885 degrees May 8-9

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln conferred a record 3,885 degrees during commencement exercises May 8-9.

The 3,762 graduates – also a record – are from 61 countries; 45 U.S. states and the District of Columbia; and 230-plus Nebraska communities.

Among the local grads are: Brandon: Brady Scott Giles, College of Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Biological Systems Engineering with highest distinction; Anna Jo Tews, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry; Garretson: Cadyn John Ockenga, UNO College of Public Affairs and Community Service, Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice with high distinction; and Sioux Falls: Sabren Jack Bortnem, College of Business, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
