STC students, employees break volunteer records
Southeast Technical College students and staff took part in a record-breaking community service event as part of the Spring 2026 Service to Community (STC) Days. From wheelchair ramps to activity kits, volunteers constructed items to help dedicated staff at Camp Leif Erickson run memorable activities for campers this summer. The volunteer event was the largest single-day event in STC history with 383 volunteers contributing 496 community service hours.
Area students include: Brandon – Landon Becker, Jacob Goeden, Graham Stauffacher, Macyn Kolseth, Emilee Martens, Kazi Potts; Renner – Gabrirl Drury; Valley Springs – Blaine Lentz, Ethan Schleicher; Garretson – Eh Ku Shee, Jorga Olson, Noah Stoms; Sioux Valls – Carter Reindl.
Reiter, Ruhlman to graduate from NSU
Austin Reiter, of Brandon, and Lauren Ruhlman, of Valley Springs, will be among the more than 300 Northern State University students to receive degrees at the spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9.
Reiter earned a B.S. degree in Human Performance, and Ruhlman will receive a B.S. in Marketing.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in Wachs Arena at the Barnett Center. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed through the NSU Facebook page, and broadcast locally on Midco channel 588 and NVC Channel 12.
