Weiss runs leg of SDSU Top 10 4x400
Brandon Valley track and field alum, Kyra Weiss, ran a leg of a South Dakota State women’s 4x400 relay. Weiss, a freshman, and her teammates established a time of 3:34.67 to crack the all-time Top 10 list at No. 7.
Splitrock Ladies League results
The Splitrock Ladies bowled on Feb. 3, with the following results: High Team Game & Series, Garretson, Ins., 912 & 2,603; High Individual Game & Series, Sharon Small, 224, which was also 75 pins over her average & 526.
Diane Fueston picked up the 3-10 split; Connie Saathoff picked up the 5-6 split; Jan Fonder picked up the 2-7 split; Bonnie Bruggeman picked up the 6-7-10 split and also bowled a 185, which was 67 pins over her average; and Sharon Small had four turkeys and Bonnie Bruggeman and Cheryl Scholl each had one.
Results from the Jan. 27 session of the Splitrock Ladies Bowling League are as follows: High Team Game & Series, L.O.L., 842 & 2,460; High Individual Game & Series, Kathie Franz, 176 & 462.
Gail Trudeau picked up the 5-10 & 5-6 splits.
Lynx Club Bowling has mixed results against Harrisburg, SFW
Brandon Valley’s varsity and junior varsity girls’ and boys’ club bowling teams came away from two recent matches with mixed results.
In their week 10 matchup against the Tigers, Harrisburg nipped the varsity boys, 27-23, and the varsity girls, 29-21. The Lynx, however, had the edge in the JV ranks. BV boys defeated Harrisburg 37-13 and the girls delivered a dominating 49-1 victory.
In their week 11 matches against the Warriors, the Lynx varsity boys rolled to a 47-3 win, while the varsity girls lost 28.5-21.5.
Once again, BV’s JV squads were in command. The Lynx boys defeated Washington 44-6 and the girls posted a 46-4 victory.
South Dakota Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2026 announced
South Dakota Hockey along with the South Dakota Hockey Hall of Fame has announced the induction of six individuals from five local hockey associations as the members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
The South Dakota Hockey Hall of Fame was founded in 2022 to establish a memorial to those who have developed the sport of ice hockey in South Dakota. The Class of 2026 inductees will be presented during an induction banquet at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
“We’re excited to unveil the 2026 class of the South Dakota Hockey Hall of Fame,” said Jeff Scheel, chairman of the selection committee. “Our sport is growing rapidly and celebrating these individuals shows where hockey has been and where’s it’s headed in South Dakota.”
