Letter to the Editor - Fjerestad: A hearfelt thank you

Our family would like to send a very special thank you to everyone who helped make the 12th Annual Jimmie (Jim) Fjerestad Memorial Golf Tournament another memorable and successful event.

We are incredibly grateful to the Brandon Valley Baseball Association, Chris Brown, Stuart Peschel, the coaches and players, our friends and family, and the many community organizations who continue to support this tournament year after year.

A special thank you also goes to the amazing staff and crew at the Brandon Municipal Golf Course, from the pro shop and lounge staff to the incredible grounds crew. Your hard work and hospitality help make this tournament such a special event for everyone involved.

Because of everyone’s generosity and support, this year’s tournament was able to donate a little over $11,900 to the Brandon Valley Baseball Association. We are especially thankful to the BVBA for helping us keep this tournament going and, in doing so, helping us keep my dad’s memory alive.

For my mom (Bonnie), Jamie and me, and our boys, this tournament is so much more than a golf tournament. It is an opportunity, with the help of all of you, to give back to the community that meant so much to Jimmie Fjerestad. He spent decades coaching and supporting youth sports, and this tournament allows us to continue that spirit of giving while keeping his memory alive.

A simple thank you never seems like enough to express what your love, friendship, and support mean to our family. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you for continuing to make this event so special.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year. We typically hold the tournament on the last Friday of June, but because of the South Dakota Golf Association State Husband and Wife Tournament in 2027, next year’s tournament will be held one week earlier, on Friday, June 18, 2027.

Thank you again for helping us honor Jimmie’s memory and give back to the community he loved.
