Letter to the Editor - Baumann: I’m going to vote for people who show up

I was very disappointed to see that the Legislative Candidate Forum on Saturday, April 18th only had 4 out of 6 legislative candidates in attendance. Two of the candidates did not show up. This is our town’s only public opportunity to ask questions and hear from all the candidates. If it is not a priority for the candidates to show up for constituents to answer their questions, how are they going to show up for their constituents to represent them in Pierre? 
I did, however, see that both of the missing candidates were “Featured Guests” at a special interest Political Action Committee (PAC) event the Friday night before Brandon’s Legislative Candidate Forum.
Personally, I will vote for candidates who show up for constituents. This leaves me with the choices of the candidates that prioritize their constituents over PACs and were present at the forum: Adam Long and Manuel Luschas for the House of Representatives, and David Kull or John Sjaarda for the Senate.
