Letter to the Editor - Bastian: Grateful for the conversations, inspired by our Brandon community
As we approach the Nov. 3 election, I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to the many Brandon residents I have had the privilege of meeting over the past several weeks.
Walking through Ward 3 knocking on doors, listening to concerns, sharing ideas, and simply getting to know more of the people who call Brandon home has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
What has impressed me most is how deeply people care about our community. While we may not always agree on every issue, we share something important: a desire to see Brandon remain a safe, welcoming, and thriving for generations to come.
I also want to recognize and thank the other Brandon City Council candidates who have stepped forward to serve. We are fortunate to have qualified individuals willing to invest their time, experience, and energy in the future of our great city. Public service requires commitment, and I respect anyone willing to accept that responsibility.
Regardless of the outcome on Nov. 3, I will always be grateful for the conversations, the kindness, the encouragement, and even the differing opinions shared along the way. Each of these things has given me a greater appreciation for the people and neighborhoods that make Brandon such a special place.
Strong communities are not built by one person or one election. They are built by neighbors who care, people who participate, and individuals willing to serve something greater than themselves.
To the residents of Ward 3, thank you for welcoming me into your neighborhoods and sharing what matters most to you. I would be honored to earn your vote on Nov. 3.
Brett Bastian
Candidate for Brandon City Council, Ward 3
