*/ Sudanese refugee David Jal spoke to Fred Assam Elementary students last week – American Education Week – about his journey from Khor Wakow to South Dakota, going days without food, growing up during civil war, and returning to Khor Wakow to build a school which now educates more than 2,000 boys and girls. KSFY’s Phil Shrek, who supported the Khor Wakow School Project, introduced Jal and read Jal’s children’s book, David’s Journey, to students. Jal also emphasized the importance of education.
