Grab a cup of coffee, this week’s Brandon Valley Journal is on us!

As I do my best to recall what it was like to be six years old, I have to confess, my memory bank is a little foggy. What I do remember, however, is that was the age I first went to school, albeit that it was half-day sessions of kindergarten. I do remember the play kitchen and large-scale building blocks we were afforded to play with, the teacher reading stories to us and the rug – not a cushy mat – that I took my “naps” on.

I reflect on six this week, as the Brandon Valley Journal has begun its sixth year of publication. This issue happens to be “Volume 6, Week 2,” and it’s our annual school district-wide blanket copy. It is our hope that you find something of interest on one of the 24 pages, or better yet, on all 24 pages. This year, we’re mailing out over 9,300 copies of the Journal that’s filled with “local news, local sports and local features”, and if you haven’t guessed by now, we strive each week to be the local news source that you turn to for all things Brandon, Valley Springs and the surrounding area.

Just as we have from the very first issue that rolled off of the press in August of 2017, the Journal staff continues to strive to keep you in the know of all of the local news, local sports, local people and events. And it is our mission to provide you with credible, factual and fair stories in all of our work.

Along with the news, sports and features, the Brandon Valley Journal proudly serves as the legal newspaper for the cities of Brandon, Valley Springs, the Brandon Valley School District, Minnehaha County and area townships.

It is our hope that you will find this complimentary issue of the Brandon Valley Journal engaging, informative and entertaining. And we are hopeful that if you’re not already a subscriber, that you will want to be one now.

Of course, if print isn’t your thing, you can read the Journal in its entirety on our digital platform, brandonvalleyjournal.com.

This Thursday and Friday during business hours, we’ll be celebrating in-house with birthday cake (because what’s a party without a cake), subscription deals and prize giveaways.

If you can’t make the party, check out the subscription form on page 8B of this week’s issue to renew or to subscribe.

We’ve long known that Brandon, Valley Springs and the surrounding area is a great place to live, work and play, and we’re proud to be a part of it.
