Albertha was born on Oct. 20, 1936, the daughter of Ben and Jennie (Boeve) Kracht in Hull, Iowa, and grew up on a farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa. She received her early education, attending country school through the eighth grade. She graduated from Nettleton College with an Associate Degree in Business and Accounting. After graduation she worked at Hassenstein Steel Company until 1975.

Albertha was united in marriage to Owen Flatberg on June 6, 1975 and they made their home in Sioux Falls. She enjoyed working in the garden, tending to her roses, doing seamstress work for others and being a housewife. Albertha was an advocate for Self Help Hard of Hearing. She wrote monthly newsletters and assisted in other projects. A special privilege for them was hosting bible study and fellowship meetings in their home for many years.
Later in life, they sold their home and moved to Dow Rummel Village. She thoroughly appreciated their life there. She was easy to friend and sought to be useful. She volunteered for activities and often served in the Gift Shoppe. Albertha treasured community, music, fellowship activities, friends and family. Her greatest passion was keeping in touch with those she loved.
Albertha chose to give her life to the Lord when she was 14. She remained faithful to her choice through life’s end.

Albertha is survived by her sister, Henrietta (Lowell) Wirtjes of Brandon; sister-in-law, Bernice Kracht of Esterville, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews.

Albertha was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bert, Dick and Pete Kracht; sister, Jeanette Braasch; nephews, Bernard Kracht and Dewaine Braasch; niece, Linda Kracht.
