Auction Amore is Friday
The Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce invites the public to their annual fundraiser, Auction Amore. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at the Holiday Inn in Brandon. Tickets are $20 per person. The night offers complimentary wine from 5:30-6 p.m., heavy hors de oeuvres, silent and live auctions, games of chance and new this year, The Undercover Band will entertain following the live auction.
Ten percent of the net proceeds from Auction Amore are earmarked for scholarships for Brandon Valley High School seniors.
Free Pizza, Free Prayer
The Redemption Riders will be giving away 400 free pizzas until they are gone beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Celebrate Church in Brandon. The Redemption Riders is a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. To learn more, contact Celebrate Church at (605) 582-7771.
Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed is Saturday
The 38th annual Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed is Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Brandon VFW. The buffet of wild game dishes opens at 5:30 p.m. and live auction at 7 p.m. A free will offering will be accepted. The night also offers raffles, silent auction and other games of chance.
February list needs at the Brandon Food Pantry
This month’s needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are small boxes of PopTarts, Manwich, SPAM, pizza sauce and crust mixes, hard taco shells, muffin and cookie mixes and paper towels.
To make appointments for either pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
February sobriety checkpoints
Eighteen sobriety checkpoints will be held during the month of February in South Dakota.
Checkpoints are scheduled for 15 counties: Beadle, Brookings, Brown, Clay, Codington, Douglas, Fall River, Jackson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Lyman, Minnehaha, Pennington, Roberts, and Walworth.
LSS Mentor ‘Try-it’ event is Feb. 10
Lutheran Social Services will host a Mentor “Try It” Day from noon-1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 at Anne Sullivan Elementary, 3701 S. Fourth Ave., Sioux Falls. This event provides an opportunity for participants to learn more about the LSS School Mentoring program.
