Brandon returns to stage 1 lawn watering

Brandon’s stage 1 – odd/even lawn watering schedule – was reimplemented on July 4. Consumers whose property address is an even number, may water on even-number calendar dates, and vice versa for odd-numbered addresses. Watering, however, is not allowed between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

 

ZooMobile at Brandon Library

The ZooMobile will be at the Brandon Community Library for two sessions at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 9. Children of all ages will meet four ambassador animals during this Great Plains Zoo Tails and Tales presentation.

Registration is required at https://siouxland.libnet.info/events or by calling 582-2390.

Groups of 10 or more should call the library to register.

 

Parkview to perform outdoor concert

The public is invited to an outdoor concert by Parkview at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10 at Spirit of Truth Lutheran Church, 112 E. Annabelle St., Brandon. Parkview features local music artists, Autumn Driscoll and JT Larson. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

Community Concert & Food Truck Night

Brandon Lutheran Church and Celebration United Methodist Church are teaming up for a Community Concert and Food Truck Night on Monday, July 19. Food trucks will be at Brandon Lutheran, 600 E. Holly Blvd., from 5-7:30 p.m. Spoke Folk, a high school bicycling ministry, will perform a contemporary Christian music concert at 7 p.m. Lawn chairs or blankets are encouraged for seating.

 

July sobriety checkpoint list announced

South Dakota’s Department of Public Safety will conduct 21 sobriety checkpoints will held throughout throughout the state in July.

The monthly checkpoints are designed to discourage people from drinking and then driving. 

July checkpoints are scheduled for 16 different counties. They are: Beadle, Bennett, Brookings, Butte, Charles Mix, Codington, Hughes, Jackson, Lincoln, Meade, Minnehaha, Pennington, Spink, Union, Walworth and Yankton.

Officials remind drivers not to drink and drive regardless of whether there is a checkpoint planned in their county.

People who have been drinking are urged to designate a sober driver or take an alternate form of transportation.
