Kelling’s strong bat aids BV’s 24-1 road victory

Brandon Valley’s mega victory over Mitchell Post 18 last week served largely as batting practice. Post 131 chiseled out 18 hits in the lopsided 24-1 victory, and Logan Kelling led the way with a 4-for-4 performance that resulted in five runs and 4 RBIs.
Kelling’s big bat produced singles in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings.
In the opening frame, two walks, a sacrifice bunt, singles by Jaxon Haase and Matt Brown added up to three runs for the Lynx. In the bottom half of the first, Mitchell’s lone run came via singes by Seth Muth and Schmidt.
BV repeated their three-run production in the second inning. Kelling led off with a single, which was accompanied by back-to-back errors by Post 18. A sacrifice fly ball by Joe Kolbeck scored Kelling. Haase and Brown both hit singles for the 6-1 score heading into the bottom of the second.
BV all but put the game out of reach in the fourth and fifth innings, where they tacked on six and 11 runs, respectively. The Post 131 onslaught was guided by Kelling, Lake Terveer, Austin Reiter, Kolbeck, Brown and Nick Hokenstad, as the they all drove in runs.
The Lynx tallied 18 hits in the victory, while Mitchell was limited to four hits, two of which came off the batt of Jonah Schmidt.
Brown pitched Post 131 to victory. The ace allowed just four hits and one run over five innings of work. He struck out three Mitchell batters.
Ty Neugebauer was charged with the loss. He surrendered 13 runs on nine hits over 3 2/3 innings.
