Four individuals, ’86 track team to be inducted into BV Athletic Hall of Fame

A track and field team and four individuals have been selected for induction into the Brandon Valley Athletic Hall of Fame this year. 

Chosen for induction in 2023 are BV’s 1986 state track and field championship team, coached by Lyle Clausen, two former Lynx athletes, Jack VanLeur (Class of 2006) and Matt VandeBerg (Class of 2013), a contributor and coach, Brad Helm, and contributor Bob “The Voice of the Lynx” Logan.

The Hall of Fame banquet, sponsored by the BV Athletic Booster Club, is planned for Saturday, March 25 at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the induction ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased by calling BVHS at (605) 582-3211.

 

District 2 Legislative Coffee is Saturday

The Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce has organized a District 2 Legislative Coffee for 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Brandon Golf Course. District 2 Legislators Dave Kull and John Sjaarda, both in the House of Representatives, and Steve Kolbeck, State Senate, will be on hand to update constituents on the early happenings of the 2023 Session, and answer questions from the public.

Local K of C Free Throw Championship is Sunday

yous and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The event, organized by the Splitrock Council #13400, is planned for Sunday, Jan. 29 at Robert Bennis Elementary. Registration opens at noon and the competition begins at 12:30 p.m.

March 14 is Future Planning Fair at BVHS

From 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, students at Brandon Valley High School will have the opportunity to explore their futures at the Future Planning Fair in the BVHS Activity Center, will take place during parent-teacher conferences.
